ALC Lite classrooms

Published on

The Office of Classroom Management is pleased to announce a new classroom type: Active Learning Classroom Lite (ALC Lite). ALC Lites are similar to ALCs in that they are designed to support face-to-face group interaction and collaboration, but without the heavy technology infrastructure.

ALC Lite classrooms are rolling out for the fall 2026 semester and can be requested starting in spring 2027 by adding the ALC Lite room characteristic in CCS Maintain Sched of Classes, meetings tab.

ALC Lites include:

  • Group seating arrangements of 4-6 students.
  • Adequate whiteboard coverage around the classroom for student collaborative work, which could include wall-mounted or mobile whiteboards.
  • Adequate power throughout the classroom.
  • Instructor mobility (space to circulate).
  • Instructor area in the front of the room with central projection screen or display.

If you want to check out the ALC Lite rooms, you can use Room Search (select the ALC Lite feature) to see photographs and layouts of the rooms.
