Two substantial amendments to the Syllabus Requirements Policy went into effect in July 2026. If you work with faculty or produce a student syllabus for a class, please be sure to note the following amendments that are now required to be included in course syllabi:
- AI usage: Instructors must include a clear syllabus statement outlining the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in their courses. Instructors can choose whether to allow or prohibit the use of AI for each individual course. For more information and suggested language, see GenAI Syllabus Statements.
- Workload: Instructors must include a workload statement in their undergraduate course syllabi in accordance with the Expected Time per Course Credit policy. Sample workload statements can be found on the Curricular Hub.
