Step-by-step instructions
Step 1
Format your spreadsheet columns.
Format the mid-term grades spreadsheet
Midterm grades can only be uploaded from a file from Faculty Center. They cannot be mass uploaded from Canvas.
- Column A must contain student ID numbers.
- Column B must contain student grades.
- Column C may contain the percentage of work on which the midterm grade is based. This field is not required.
- Column D may contain the engagement (I = Intermittent, N = Never, R = Regular, U = Unknown). This field is not required.
- Column E may contain a note to the student. This field is not required.
Leaving blank spaces for a non-required field not enter any data for that field. This will not erase or overwrite prior data.
Format the final grades spreadsheet
- Column A must contain student ID numbers.
- Column B must contain student grades.
- Column C must contain the last date of participation for any students receiving an F or N grade. Please use this format to enter a last date of participation: MM/DD/YYYY. Mac users may be able to omit extraneous zeroes from the date.
Step 2
Remove any column headings from your spreadsheet.
Step 3
Save your spreadsheet as a .csv file. To save an Excel spreadsheet as a .csv filed, select "Save as" from the File menu.
- If using a PC, select “csv (comma delimited)” format.
- If using a Mac, select “Windows Comma Separated (.csv)” format.
Step 4
Go to the Teaching tab of MyU. Select the appropriate class grade roster, then click the "grade upload" button.
- Note: Uploading midterm or final grades will overwrite any unofficial grades you may have previously entered.
