The Electronic Course Authorization System (ECAS) is the system by which individual courses are proposed, reviewed, and approved for the course catalog.
ECAS is a secure system that requires Internet ID authentication to enter, edit, or approve courses. All U of M faculty and staff can view ECAS entries.
Access
The Electronic Course Authorization System (ECAS) will soon be replaced by the Coursedog Curriculum and Catalog application. Effective April 28, 2023 the Access Request Form (ARF) used to request access to propose, update, or approve courses in ECAS is no longer available. This is necessary to support the implementation of Coursedog. Please contact srhelp@umn.edu if you have any questions about accessing ECAS.
Note: all UMN staff have view-only access to ECAS.
Please note that because of security requirements, there is a timeout on the use of ECAS. If you have the application open for more than 30 minutes with no activity, you will be asked to sign in again.
Information on course designators and requesting new course designators is available.
